Ojo por ojo

Aministía Internacional tiene una lista de correo en la que te mandan cartas de peticiones para que se conmuten las penas de muertes de ciudadanos de todo el mundo. Además de poder firmar en la web, te envía correos con la carta escrita y tu la reenvías firmada con tu nombre y DNI a la autoridad competente para intentar que la presión social les obligue a reconsiderar la sentencia. Suelen mandar de 2 a 5 mails al mes como mucho y en algunas ocasiones funciona y las condenas se cambian. La última que se envío fue a favor de un español que se llama Ángel y está condenado por asesinato a la inyección letal en el estado de Florida.
Hasta ahora nunca me habían respondido a título personal (las cartas son todas iguales), pero hoy he recibido este mail. Así es como el gabinete de marketing de Jeff Bush dice "sincerely" que van a matar a un hombre digan lo que digan los demás.

Thank you for writing to Governor Bush about a death row inmate. The Governor appreciates your concerns and asked me to respond on his behalf.

Governor Bush believes that the death penalty is appropriate and warranted in certain capital murder cases, and supports its use by the courts in those cases. The Governor also believes we should look not only to the issues surrounding the defendant, but also to the surviving victims, and to the effect the murder has on our community as a whole, in deciding whether the death penalty is an appropriate punishment.
Florida law provides numerous levels of appeals for the convicted individual before the sentence is moved. Once a person is convicted of an aggravated first-degree murder and sentenced to death in Florida, the state voluntarily provides free legal representation to the convicted murderer until the sentence is carried out or reduced on appeal. No other state has invested the public resources in capital post conviction legal representation that Florida has been providing for well over a decade.
Governor Bush shares the concerns of many that the death penalty must be reserved for only the most heinous cases. As the Governor has said many times, the signing of a death warrant is one of the most solemn and somber responsibilities he must undertake, and he does so with humble deliberation.
